Connecticut Subsurface Sewage Governance & Local Health District Notice:

In Connecticut, county government was abolished in 1960. Onsite sewage (Subsurface Sewage Disposal Systems — SSDS) is regulated statewide under CT Public Health Code Sections 19-13-B100a & 19-13-B103 by the Connecticut Department of Public Health (CT DPH) Environmental Engineering Program. Permits, as-built drawings, and site inspections are administered locally across the 169 towns through Municipal Health Departments and Regional Health Districts (such as Torrington Area, Farmington Valley, Eastern Highlands, Aspetuck, and Quinnipiack Valley).
